Sunderland drew with Oxford United at the Stadium of Light in League One at the weekend.
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a message to the fans after the match against Oxford United.
Donald has praised the Sunderland fans for their support to the team during the League One game against Oxford at the Stadium of Light this past Saturday.
The Black Cats went a man down after just 19 minutes when Max Power was given a straight red card for a lunge on Marcus Browne.
That came just three minutes after Ricky Holmes put Oxford in the lead, but Sunderland launched a comeback and found the equaliser through Charlie Wyke seven minutes into the second half.
Sunderland owner Donald has thanked the Stadium of Light faithful on Twitter for their support to the team when things got tough.
Donald has also given his take on the performance of Chris Maguire, who can operate as a striker or as a winger and joined Sunderland in the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old was shown a yellow card in the first half and was substituted at the start of the second half by Wyke.
Donald wrote on Twitter: “Thank u again to all the @SunderlandAFC fans today. Stuck with the team after a slow start & the noise when we scored was incredible. Down to 10 men early on & a goal down it could have been a tough day but the fans and players stuck together and that showed . Thank u all.”
While responding to an Oxford fan on Twitter, Donald wrote: “Wouldn’t argue that Lloyd regarding Maguire – just think though Oxford gave as good as they got. See that about 3 points too but 1-0 up against 10 men for 75 mins think OUFC should have really pushed much harder last 15 when we were tired.”
