Sunderland are going strong in League One at the moment.

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has suggested on social networking site Twitter that he is pleased with the start the team have made to the season.

The Black Cats are playing in League One this season after getting relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Jack Ross’s side are third in the league table at the moment with 18 points from nine matches, four points behind leaders Peterborough United.

Sunderland owner Donald is pleased with how things are going for the team at the moment.

Donald wrote on Twitter: “Solid start! Only one window & there is still a lot 2 do for everyone but it looks like we have stopped the downward spiral & if we all work really hard & stick together we can turn this around an who knows how far we could go!! Lots to do but really pleasing first few months.”

Pushing for promotion

Sunderland have arguably the best squad in League One, and it will be a major surprise if the Black Cats are unable to end the season in the top two.

Ross is a very good manager who seems to be getting the best out of his players, and the Stadium of Light faithful should be confident about the season ahead.

The Black Cats will return to action this coming Saturday afternoon when they take on Coventry City away from home at Ricoh Arena in League One.

Benji Kimpioka progress

Meanwhile, Sunderland Under-23 manager Elliott Dickman has commented on the progress that 18-year-old Benji Kimpioka is making.

The Chronicle quotes Dickman as saying about Kimpioka: “Benji Kimpioka has done great but he still has a lot of developing to do.

“The first-team staff are well aware of him, so it will just be a case of seeing how well he does over time.

“He has been in and around the first-team during pre-season and he came on in the Checkatrade Trophy. The manager is fully aware of him, but he still has a lot to learn and improve on.”
