Confirmation of Djilobodji’s Sunderland exit arrived at long last on Wednesday.

The Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has declared this his favourite day as a Mackem.
It follows official confirmation of the club’s agreement with Papy Djilobodji, the defender who had his Sunderland contract terminated seven weeks ago.
Donald tweeted afterwards:
And while he failed to clarify what his post was in relation to, Donald later referred to a long day spent with lawyers.
Along with Didier Ndong, Djilobodji was sacked in September after going absent without leave.
But while Ndong’s release took just weeks to finalise, Djilobodji’s situation has continued to hang over the Stadium of Light.
The pair were signed towards the end of Sunderland’s time in the Premier League, and with both players finally off the books the Mackems can perhaps look forward to a more relaxed January transfer window, as they seek to escape League One at the first time of asking.

Where should Sunderland spend the money saved by ditching Djilobodji and Ndong?
