Young talent Luke Amos faces a tough task to break into the Tottenham Hotspur first team but he is giving himself a chance with an impressive loan spell.

The 20-year-old moved to League Two side Stevenage last month and has established himself in the first team playing on the right side of midfield.

Amos scored at the weekend in their win over Yeovil, his first goal for the club.

Manager Darren Sarll had very kind words to say about Amos this week, hailing him as an excellent young professional.

He told the club’s official website: “I think he has been terrific since he has joined, he plays out of position to what he does at Tottenham and it kind of suits him.

“The best loan players embrace their loan club and Luke has just epitomised everything that we want to be here.

“Lots of energy, very tenacious and his ability to receive and roll away from where the ball comes from is magnificent. It is a very difficult skill and he is terrific at it.”

Amos signed a new contract extension with Tottenham in January before his loan move, tying him to the club until 2019.

He has played 49 games at under-23 level at Tottenham and the loan spell is going to be key in helping him to progress.

It is a big step up to make it at Spurs but the club have to be encouraged at the way he has adapted to his new surroundings.
