Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers go to Hamilton tonight.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on August 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Steven Thomson has told BBC Sport that Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha should be sacked if his side fail to beat Hamilton Academical away tonight.

Rangers go into tonight’s match on the back of a 2-0 defeat at home to Old Firm rivals Celtic last week in a thoroughly dispirited performance.

This evening’s contest is already being overshadowed by Caixinha’s decision to drop Kenny Miller from the squad in a revelation which has drawn criticism.

The Ibrox side are already eight points adrift of Celtic at the summit of the Premiership, and ex-Rangers man Thomson feels the end is near and likens the situation at Rangers to the unfolding of a horror movie.

“I think he has run out of, not time, but excuses definitely. One of his comments was you’ll see the real Rangers against Hamilton – where was the real Rangers against Celtic?

“If he doesn’t win it then Rangers will be looking for a new manager – that’s how strongly I feel about it. If he doesn’t win tonight’s game I can’t see a future for him at the club. He could go, but absolutely should go.

“It’s like a horror film now where you’re like this [covering your eye] and you know what the ending is going to be.”

To make matters slightly worse, Rangers are on an artificial pitch tonight and it can be tricky to adapt to, but they have the players to do the business.

Whether they do or not remains to be seen.
