Rangers manager Graeme Murty’s future at Ibrox is in doubt.
Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson has told BBC Sportscene Extra’s Facebook Live channel that he expects the Gers to make an offer Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke.
Doubts remain over the future of current boss Graeme Murty, who is only contracted until the end of the season at Ibrox after taking over from Pedro Caixinha towards the end of 2017.
In what has been a tumultuous week for Rangers, Murty’s future has been cast into even more doubt after the 43-year-old boss failed to stop Rangers from losing 4-0 to Celtic.
A dressing-room fracas saw Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace suspended for a bust-up with Murty, and Thompson believes that Murty will not be the manager beyond the end of the season.
He said in no uncertain terms that: “Rangers will make an offer for Steve Clarke.”
Clarke has excellent at Kilmarnock since moving to Rugby Park earlier in the season, taking Killie from a potential relegation dog fight to fifth in the Scottish Premiership.
The likes of Kris Boyd, Jordan Jones and Youssouf Mulumbu have starred in a side that now sit just seven points behind second, with five games still to play north of the border.
The 54-year-old boss has two years remaining on his current contract at Killie, but the Gers could look to tempt the former West Bromwich Albion manager with the job at Ibrox.
