Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers will face Motherwell this afternoon, and former Ibrox striker Steven Thompson has backed them to win.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is seen prior to the Betfred League Cup Quarter Final at Firhill Stadium on September 19, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers will return to action this afternoon when they take on Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell at Hampden Park in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup.

Pedro Caixinha’s side will head into the match against Motherwell on the back of a 3-0 victory over St. Johnstone away from home at McDiarmid Park in Perth in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are in good form at the moment and have recovered from their Old Firm derby defeat to Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.

In a cup tie, though, anything is possible, and Rangers should not get complacent ahead of the match against Motherwell.

It could be a tough match for the Gers, who should be wary of conceding the opening goal to a side who are arguably the underdogs.

Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson has predicted the Ibrox outfit to win, while Gers stars Daniel Candeias and Fabio Cardoso have taken to social networking site Twitter to send strong messages ahead of the game.

“I will going to go for an extra-time win, 2-1,” Thompson told BBC Sport Scotland Facebook live.
