Rangers face Partick Thistle on Saturday afternoon at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
Steven Thompson has told BBC Sport Scotland’s Facebook Live channel that he believes interim Rangers boss Graeme Murty will record his second successive win against Partick Thistle.
The Gers go up against Alan Archibald’s side at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon – their second match since sacking Portuguese manager Pedro Caixinha.
Murty, 42, masterminded an impressive away victory at Tynecastle last weekend, recalling Kenny Miller to the Gers side who proved crucial by scoring a brace and providing an assist to beat Hearts 3-1.
Now, former Rangers striker Thompson claims the Gers will earn another three points under Murty by beating Partick 2-1 at home, but does not believe that Murty will be given the job on a full-time basis.
“He won’t get it because he is not experienced enough but I do think when he goes into the lions’ den he does well. He can clearly reorganise a team and he has the respect of the players,” Thompson said.
“Rangers at home have not been that good, have they? Partick have not beaten Rangers since 1993, but they have had a great mini-resurgence. But I think Rangers will win at home, I think it will be tight – 2-1.”
Rangers will be desperate to continue life after Caixinha with another three points as they sit way down in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership, one point behind Hibernian and five behind Aberdeen.
Three points for the Gers could see them go above Hibs into third, if Neil Lennon’s side fail to beat Dundee at Easter Road on Saturday.
