Rangers play host to Aberdeen on Wednesday night at Ibrox.
Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson has told BBC Sportscene Extra’s Facebook Live channel that he believes Rangers will fail to beat Aberdeen despite boasting home advantage at Ibrox.
The Gers finally return to competitive action following the winter break after their Scottish Cup fourth round clash against Fraserburgh was called off on Sunday, due to a frozen pitch. It has been rescheduled for January 31.
Thompson described the match as enormous but believes Graeme Murty’s side will not earn all three points, instead a share of the spoils will take place in the form of a 1-1 draw.
He also highlighted Aberdeen’s Gary Mackay-Steven as a danger man after the 27-year-old thundered a wonderful effort into the top corner during his side’s 4-1 win over St. Mirran on Saturday.
“A brilliant game, a huge game including all of the new signings. Aberdeen will go into the game full of confidence, including Gary Mackay-Steven after his goal. Draw, one each,” Thompson said.
Rangers Derek McInnes’ side for the third time this season at Ibrox, after beating the Dons twice in the space of a week with a 3-0 win at Ibrox and a 2-1 win at Pittodrie.
Four debuts could take place for Rangers, after manager Murty has brought in Sean Goss, Russell Martin, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings this month.
Three points would see the Gers climb above Aberdeen into second place, and even within eight points of Celtic, if their Old Firm rivals suffer a shock defeat to Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.
