Ibrox club Rangers face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, while Celtic play host to Aberdeen.

Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson has predicted his old side’s clash against Kilmarnock and Celtic’s match against Aberdeen on BBC Sportscene’s Facebook Live channel.

The Gers travel to Rugby Park to face the Killies after Graeme Murty was appointed manager until the end of the 2017-18 campaign by the Rangers board, after the 43-year-old has won six of his nine games in charge.

Brendan Rodgers’ side play host to Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen, after losing their 69-game unbeaten run last weekend before beating Partick 2-0 on Wednesday night.

Thompson believes Celtic will extend their lead over Rangers by two points on Saturday, claiming the Gers will only manage a 1-1 draw while Thompson has claimed Celtic will beat McInnes’ side 2-1.

“Won three of their last four games have Killie,” Thompson said. “Rangers missed the chance to win five in a row, losing at home I thought they were poor. I think it will be a very close game. They drew last time out, and I think they will draw 1-1.

“Aberdeen’s recent record against Celtic, however last weekend was their best performance of the season. GMS showing what he can do. I can’t say Aberdeen getting a win.

“As bad as Celtic as they were last weekend, they got the job done. 2-1 to Celtic.”

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic currently sit at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, five points clear of Saturday’s opponents Aberdeen and eight clear of Murty’s side.

With claims of a title race still in the offing, Thompson’s predictions would surely end the Gers’ chances of fighting for the Scottish Premiership title as they would sit 10 points behind.
