Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers, now managed by Graeme Murty, and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will win this weekend, predicts Steven Thompson.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty’s Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic both will return to action in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.

While Rangers will lock horns with St Johnstone at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon, Celtic will take on Heart of Midlothian away from home at Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon.

Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson, 39, has backed both the Gers and the Bhoys to win their respective Scottish Premiership games this weekend.

Thompson said on BBC Sport Scotland Facebook live (Friday, December 15, 2017): “I am going to go for a Rangers 2-1 win against St. Johnstone.”

“Celtic will win 2-0,” added Thompson while discussing Celtic’s game.

Celtic's head coach Brendan Rodgers talks during a press conference in Brussels on September 26, 2017 on the eve of the Champions League group B) football match against RSC Anderlecht.

Rangers have won their last four Scottish Premiership matches, including two games against Derek McInnes’s Aberdeen.

The Ibrox club are doing extremely well under caretaker-manager Murty, and the Gers should be able to pick up all three points against St Johnstone at Ibrox this afternoon.

Celtic are unbeaten in 69 domestic games in Scotland, and although Hearts will make it tough at them at home, Rodgers’s side should manage to win the match with relative ease.

The Hoops are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, while the Gers are currently second in the standings.

Meanwhile, Rangers star Jason Holt has spoken highly of fellow midfielder Josh Windass and told The Glasgow Evening Times: “He has done well previously and now he is adding goals to his game. If he is helping out the team, we are delighted. We just want to keep seeing him progress as a player.

“Most of the boys have got a really good understanding with him. We work on the training pitch every day and know what his qualities are. “
