Pundit Steven Thompson has told BBC Sport that he felt Philippe Senderos and Niko Kranjcar were Rangers’ worst players against Celtic on Saturday.

Rangers may have beaten Celtic in April’s Scottish Cup semi-final clash, but they were obliterated by the Bhoys in a dominant performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Moussa Dembele’s first-half brace had Celtic in cruise control, and whilst Joe Garner pulled one back for Rangers before the break, Celtic pulled clear after the break.

Scott Sinclair found the net to make it 3-1, before Dembele completed his hat-trick and Stuart Armstrong added a fifth in the dying embers of the game to seal a huge three points for the Bhoys.

It was a dismal afternoon for Rangers, and whilst a number of players disappointed in the Old Firm derby, two summer signings have been picked out for their poor performances.

BBC Scotland pundit Steven Thompson – a former Rangers striker – gave his player ratings to BBC Sport, and his lowest marks went to Philippe Senderos and Niko Kranjcar.

Defender Senderos was making his competitive debut having signed on a free transfer on deadline day, but ended up being sent off against Celtic for two yellow cards, the latter of which was a comical handball.

Meanwhile, playmaker Kranjcar – a summer signing from New York Cosmos – had a nightmare at Celtic Park, and was hauled off at half time as Mark Warburton had seen enough.

Thompson gave both of them a measly 3/10, blasting their respective debut performances in Saturday’s Old Firm derby.

“Sent off on his debut for an inexcusable handball,” Thompson said of Senderos. “You expect better for a player of his experience.”

“Ineffectual, lost possession regularly, booked and off the pace again,” he added on Kranjcar, who has struggled early on this season.
