Newcastle United want to recall Jamaal Lascelles, according to reports.

Newcastle United are reportedly aiming to recall Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles, according to the Sunday People.

And Alan Pardew could offer Forest centre-back Steven Taylor in exchange for the 20-year-old.

The Magpies signed Lascelles – along with goalkeeper Karl Darlow – from Stuart Pearce’s side this summer but loaned them back to the City Ground.

However, Newcastle are said to be considering recalling Lascelles to aid their defensive woes.

In return, they may offer Taylor to try and sweeten the deal, with the defender having played very little for his side this Premier League season.

As Opta stats show, Taylor has only played twice this season, making six clearances and winning six aerial duels and one interception.

Lascelles, however, has played even less minutes for Forest this Championship season, although he has fared better than Taylor in two key areas.

According to the Sunday People, Pardew feels the 20-year-old’s potential alone – as well as strong performances in previous seasons – is enough to justify a recall.
