Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have an in-form player in Ryan Kent at the moment.

Former Rangers defender Steven Smith has revealed to The Daily Record’s podcast that he is growing increasingly more impressed by Ryan Kent.

The 22-year-old has been in stunning form for Rangers in recent weeks, and scored in Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing of St Mirren to make it two goals in as many games – five overall in 13 Premiership starts.

Kent, on loan at the Gers from Liverpool, caught the eye this past weekend for taking corners with both feet, illustrating his confidence levels at the minute.

And Smith, who spent two years at Ibrox until 2015, reckons that the young winger would be an ‘absolutely nightmare’ to play against in this sort of form.

He told The Daily Record’s podcast: “He’s somebody who impresses me, the more I see him. Just simple things, small things like taking corners with both feet and that’s something you don’t normally see up here really.

“He’s a winger that can go both ways and he’s got pace. He must be an absolute nightmare to play against.”

Kent is adored by Rangers fans and rightly so. He is a real livewire and manager Steven Gerrard will be desperate to keep him beyond the end of his loan spell in Glasgow.

And it seems very likely that the Reds will move him on.

He’s good but, let’s face it, he won’t be playing ahead of Sadio Mane or Mo Salah any time soon and maybe, just maybe, Gerrard will get a favour from his old side this summer.
