The New Saint defender, Steven Saunders, has showered praise for Glasgow Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack, by stating he could be their best signing of the summer.

The 26-year-old defender took part in a closed-door game at Murray Park, and offered a mixed review of the Rangers players. The game ended 1-1.

Pedro Caixinha’s new look Rangers side dominated possession, but threatened little in the final third.

The former Motherwell man, Saunders said that these foreign players must get up to speed in time for the Rangers’ next Thursday’s Europa League first-round qualifier.

Of the six signings made so far (soon to be eight if we include Herrera and Pena), Saunders is most impressed with Ryan Jack, who joined from Aberdeen this summer.

Saunders claimed that Ryan will prove to be Rangers’ best signing. He adds that the 25-year-old former Aberdeen skipper is a more technical player, and brings composure to his team.

Jack has a wealth of experience about Scottish football, and Saunders believes that he knows what’s required to be a success at the Ibrox.

“I believe Ryan Jack will prove to be their best signing. On the evidence of Monday’s game that appears to be the case as he was the most impressive of all the new signings,” said Saunders, as quoted by The Daily Record.

“He knows the Scottish game inside out and knows the league and is well aware of what’s required to be able to play with a club of the size of Rangers.

“Ryan’s far more technical a player than maybe some people realise, his use of the ball is excellent and he brings a composure to his team. There’s no doubt he can play and he’ll be a huge player for his new club this season.”
