West Brom assistant coach Steven Reid has bowed out after the club’s play-off defeat.

The team beat Aston Villa 1-0 at the Hawthorns, tying the aggregate at 2-2, before losing on penalties.

Reid was brought into the club on a short term basis to help out caretaker manager Jimmy Shan, after Darren Moore was fired.

The ex West Brom midfielder has now reflected on the positive experience he has enjoyed. He added that the manner of the club’s defeat was ‘horrible’.

West Brom’s attention can now turn to finding a permanent boss. Shan did well to steady the ship but it appears unlikely he will be handed the job full time.

Helping the Baggies secure a play-off spot is certainly a plus for Reid’s CV as he takes his first step into coaching.

West Brom managed to finish fourth, and will be one of the favourites to win automatic promotion next season.
