Everton midfielder Gueye has impressed at Goodison Park this season.

Former Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has told the club’s official website that midfielder Idrissa Gueye is absolutely vital to the Toffees, comparing him with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea stars.
The 28-year-old has been a key member of Everton’s side this season, making 38 appearances in all competitions and missing just five Premier League matches.
Whether Ronald Koeman, David Unsworth or Sam Allardyce have picked the likes of Wayne Rooney, Tom Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin or others in midfield, Gueye has always remained in front of the Toffees defence.

Pienaar described the importance of former Aston Villa and Lille star Gueye by comparing him to Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Spurs trio Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele.
“Idrissa is important to the team,” Pienaar said. “If you look around at other clubs, they have one of those players like him. Chelsea have N’Golo Kante. Tottenham have Moussa Dembele, Eric Dier or Victor Wanyama, and City have Fernandinho who can all play that position.
“They are all important players that a lot of people don’t see the work they do. For me, Idrissa is vital because he does the dirty work but is also good on the ball. You need a link between attack and defence and he is that guy.”

Gueye joined Everton following Villa’s relegation in the summer of 2016, and has since made 73 appearances in all competitions for the club. he has four years remaining on a deal the Sun claim is worth £75,000 a week, or £4million a year.
The midfielder will be with Senegal this summer in Russia as the African nation fights for a place in the knockout rounds from Group H, alongside Colombia, Japan and Poland.
