The Sunderland manager is without a win in his first eight games this season.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Sunderland midfielder Steven Pienaar has backed David Moyes to turn things around at the club.
The former Everton and Manchester United manager took charge at the Stadium of Light this summer following Sam Allardyce’s departure to take charge of England.
It has been a disastrous start to life for him in the North East, though, with his side currently winless in their first eight games and bottom of the Premier League table.

He is already the favourite to be the next manager to be sacked but Pienaar has backed his boss to turn things around, as he did at Everton.
“It’s not going to happen over a few months, it’s a long-term process,” he told the Chronicle.
“But I see it, the infrastructure here. The club’s got all the support that it needs, the supporters are amazing.”
“He’s going to need some time. It’s not going to be over four months or five months or one year. He did it at Everton over 11 years, so he’s going to need time to build.”

Whether Sunderland give Moyes the time needed to turn things around remains to be seen.
The Black Cats are currently bottom of the Premier League with just one point to their name after eight games.
They are already four points from safety and another relegation battle is looking likely, even at this early stage of the campaign.
This weekend sees them taking on fellow strugglers West Ham United and a failure to secure a win against Slaven Bilic’s team could be enough to convince the Sunderland board that a change is needed.
