Steven Naismith suggests Rangers need to improve home form

Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers need to improve their home form, says Norwich City and former Gers striker Steven Naismith.

Steven Naismith has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Rangers need to improve their home form at Ibrox.

The Norwich City striker played for Rangers from 2007 until 2012, and won the league thrice, the Scottish League Cup twice and the Scottish Cup once during his spell at the Gers.

Rangers are unlikely to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title this season, but the Glasgow giants can certainly finish second.

Graeme Murty’s side lost at home to St. Johnstone in the league at the weekend following a run of four wins in a row, including two against Aberdeen.

Norwich striker Naismith, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, has highlighted the need for Rangers to improve on their home form.

“It’s the home games where everyone expects you to batter teams and win that are the toughest – and dealing with the crowd when things aren’t going well,” Naismith told The Scottish Sun.

“That’s what they’re really lacking at the moment – having that knowledge of how to see out a game at home.”

Interestingly, Naismith has also suggested that he is open to returning to Rangers in the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old Scotland international is struggling for playing time at Norwich in the Championship in England at the moment and is open to the idea of playing for his old club Rangers again.

“A return to Rangers would appeal,” Naismith told The Daily Mail. “I’ve spoken in the past about Kilmarnock and Rangers and being appreciative for what they did for me as a player. I would look at those clubs and see if they were options to start with.”
