Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are heavily linked with the Norwich City ace.
Steven Naismith has told BBC Sport that Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha would be making a “massive addition” to his squad if and when he signs Norwich City’s Graham Dorrans.
The 30-year-old seems to be closing in a move to Ibrox after BBC Sport reported on Thursday that the talented midfielder was in Glasgow for his medical.
It is a transfer that has been mooted for some time but it appears as if a £1.5 million deal is close to being finalised, according to The Scottish Sun.
Naturally, Naismith, who spent five years in Rangers’ senior set up until 2012, does not want to lose his Norwich team-mate, but claims he would bring “real quality” to the Gers.
He told BBC Sport: “He’s one of our best players. He starts so many attacks and he’s got some real quality.
“For us, I hope he stays because he’d be a big loss, but he’d be a massive addition to that Rangers squad.”
At the moment, Rangers need a big pick-me-up.
It has only been a few days since Caixinha’s side were eliminated from the Europa League by Progres Niederkorn and such a shock defeat has dampened the mood surrounding the club’s pre-season signings.
The Portuguese manager has brought in eight new players this summer but losing 2-1 on aggregate to the Luxembourg side does not bode well, though Dorrans’s arrival would certainly renew a feel-good vibe among the fanbase.
