Steven Naismith has lauded Rangers forward Kenny Miller and suggested that the 37-year-old continues to defy expectations at Ibrox, The Scottish Sun reports.

The veteran has enjoyed another decent season for the Gers. He is currently their joint top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership with six goals this term to help take his tally in all competitions for the club past the 100 mark from across his three spells.

His form has arguably been incredibly important to the Light Blues this term, with the side’s other strikers struggling to make that great an impact in front of goal, and Naismith – who played alongside Miller during the striker’s second spell with the club – has suggested that his old teammate has probably proven plenty of people wrong with his form over the last few years.

“He’s still producing at the top for Rangers when people probably never expected him to at this stage of his career,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“When he went back to Rangers at whatever age he was, everyone probably thought it would maybe be for a short spell.

“But history shows older players, like Davie Weir, came to the club and did well.

“Kenny is probably moulding himself into that similar type, big in the dressing room but also producing the goods.”

When Miller returned to Rangers for a third time, he was 34 so, as Naismith suggests, was at an age when fans would have been forgiven for practically writing him off making that great an impact.

However, his overall strike-rate since his return is virtually one goal every three games, which is extremely impressive given that a fair portion of those appearances have seen him come on from the bench.

And while Pedro Caixinha may perhaps not be too keen about the idea of relying upon Miller as one of his first choice striker options next season and beyond, it would certainly be foolish if the Portuguese decided to write him off completely.
