Steven Naismith has not made a Premier League appearance for Everton since October.
Steven Naismith has told Everton’s official site that he is determined to earn a chance at Goodison Park.
Everton have a busy fixture schedule over the coming months, with the club competing in the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Premier League.
And Naimsith is hoping that the volume of matches will help him break back into Roberto Martinez’s first team plans.
“I have got to try and force my way in,” the Scotland international said. “I have worked hard in training, as I do all the time.
“We are coming up to a busy period and the manager has been known to use his squad, so I’ll be training as hard as I can to try and force my way in.”
Naismith featured prominently in Everton’s first team over the early part of the campaign, but he has fallen out of favour of the past few months.
The 29-year-old has now not made a Premier League appearance since the middle of October.
Naismith has struggled to break into Martinez’s line-up ahead of the likes of Arouna Kone, Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu.
The Scotsman’s lack of opportunities has led to speculation arising about his future on Merseyside.
Norwich City are keen to sign the attacker in January, according to a report in the Liverpool Echo, but it seems that Naismith’s full concentration is presently being directed at breaking back into the Toffees’ team.
