Rangers are reportedly making a new move to sign Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans.

Norwich City attacker Steven Naismith has told The Scottish Sun that team-mate Graham Dorrans has been asking him about his time with Rangers ahead of a possible move to Ibrox.

The Gers have been busy snapping up new signings under Pedro Caixinha, with four players – Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Jack and Dalcio – all signed up, and another four players on the verge of signing in Carlos Pena, Daniel Candeias, Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera.

Caixinha may still want new faces even after those deals are done though, and Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans appears to be emerging as a top target for Rangers this summer.

Dorrans, 30, joined the Canaries from West Bromwich Albion in 2015, but struggled to nail down a first-team spot last season, playing just half of Norwich’s Championship games.

With six goals in 23 appearances, the Scotland international did show that he still has quality, but new Norwich boss Daniel Farke is planning changes at Carrow Road this summer – and Dorrans may be expendable.

The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are making a new bid of £1.2million in a bid to bring Dorrans – a boyhood Gers fan – to Ibrox after failing with a first offer of £700,000 last week.

Now, Norwich ace and former Rangers attacker Steven Naismith has told The Scottish Sun that he is surprised that Norwich are ready to let Dorrans leave, suggesting that he plays with calmness on the ball and that the Canaries missed him this past season.

Naismith added that Dorrans has ‘always’ thought of playing for Rangers, and has been asking him about his time at Ibrox, showing real interest in making the move to Glasgow this summer.

“For me that was our biggest miss of the season,” said Naismith. “He plays with a calmness. From him being a young, really attacking player, he has that calmness on the ball. And as he’s dropped deeper and played that playmaker role he is so calm on the ball and makes the team tick. Our best performances were when he was in the team. When you are a forward and you are playing with Dozzy, you know you can find the wee pockets and he’ll deliver that pass. He’ll not play safe and knock it side to side. He wants to force the issue, that’s a big thing.”

“Am I surprised? Slightly, yes. The club is in a transitional period, sacrifices may have to be made and he might be one. He’s a big player and he could be a big player going forward. If it’s right for him it wouldn’t be a surprise. He’s always thought of playing for Rangers one day but there are so many factors. There’s a new manager and it all depends on if a deal can be done. He has talked to me about it, not so much if he fancies going, more about how it was in my time there. There is certainly an interest there.”
