Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard wants to sign Borna Barisic from Ibrox club Rangers in the January transfer window, according to 90min.
It has been reported that Rangers defender Barisic is among a number of players Gerrard is considering signing for his new club Villa.
The former Liverpool midfielder left his managerial role at Rangers last week to take over at Premier League outfit Villa.
Would Borna Barisic make Aston Villa better?
Gerrard worked with Barisic at Rangers.
So, the Englishman is in a better position than most to judge the quality of the 29-year-old.
The Croatia international has been on the books of Rangers since 2018 and is an important player in the team.

The 29-year-old is rated very highly and was described as a left-back who has “no limits” by NK Osijek sporting director Alen Petrovic’s in The Daily Record in June 2020.
Barisic joined Rangers from Osijek in 2018.
The left-back is at the top of his game now, and at the right price, he would be a good signing for Villa.
However, in our view, Rangers are unlikely to sell Barisic in the middle of the season.
After all, the Gers are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title for the second season in a row.
