Rangers beat Marseille 4-0 at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told Rangers TV that he thinks the club now have players who will ‘defend the colours for their life’ at Ibrox.
The Gers were back in action again on Sunday afternoon, taking on Marseille in a pre-season friendly, which was a great barometer of Rangers’ progress even if only in a pre-season game.
Rangers were outstanding in Sunday’s clash, taking a 2-0 lead into the half-time break as Daniel Candeias twice found the back of the net.
Gerrard then saw Connor Goldson add a third, and Jermain Defoe scored to secure a 4-0 win, the same scoreline Rangers beat St Joseph’s by last week.
It’s understandable why Rangers fans are so excited after completely demolishing Marseille, and hopes are mounting that Gerrard can launch a push for the title.
After the final whistle, Gerrard spoke to Rangers TV, and praised the way his players used the ball, believing you have to be good on the ball as a Rangers player.

Intriguingly though, Gerrard believes Rangers have lacked hunger and intensity for a long time, even before he became Gers manager last summer.
Gerrard now thinks that he’s solved the problem by bringing in players who are prepared to hunt the ball in packs and defend the shirt with their lives.
“I think people will talk about us and our possession, and how good we were on the ball, and we was, but representing Rangers, you have to be good on the ball, you have to own it and keep the ball in tight situations,” said Gerrard. “But for me, the important thing, watching Rangers from afar before I came in was that I didn’t see that hunger and that intensity out of possession. People are hunting the ball back in packs, who will defend the colours for their life, and we’ve got players now who are prepared to do that,” he added.
