Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the Glasgow Times that he feels Cedric Itten is now ‘really kicking on’ having scored against Motherwell.
The Gers fell 1-0 down to Motherwell as Chris Long scored, leaving Rangers fans fearing something of a collapse following the midweek defeat to St Mirren.
Kemar Roofe hauled Rangers level, before Itten headed home at the back post to put Rangers ahead, with Roofe then bagging his second to seal a 3-1 win.
Rangers came back from an early blow to claim all three points, and Itten certainly stepped up in the absence of Alfredo Morelos.
The 23-year-old arrived from St Gallen over the summer, and has shown glimpses of his quality, such as in the 2-0 Europa League win over Lech Poznan.
His latest goal on Saturday is another sign that Itten can be a difference-maker for Rangers, and he has now been praised by boss Gerrard.
Gerrard has suggested that Itten is ‘really kicking on’ on for Rangers, believing it has just taken him time to settle in Glasgow.

Gerrard added that he thinks Rangers fans will now see what Itten is all about, and predicted that he will only get better with more action at Ibrox.
“I was really pleased for Cedric, he showed real desire to get in there and score because at 1-1 the game was there to be won,” said Gerrard. “He is really kicking on for us at the moment. He’s taking time to settle, he’s over here alone with his girlfriend and it’s been difficult for them both.”
“It’s a big move for him, even more so during this pandemic because he’s not really been allowed to mix properly with his team-mates. He can’t go out and get used to the city so it’s been an even bigger challenge for him and we’ve been delighted with him. He wants to do well and he wants to score goals. I think the supporters can see what he’s all about. He’s a real handful and he’s got real quality. He’s only going to get better,” he added.
