According to Deportes Cuatro, Liverpool are plotting a sensational move to re-sign Luis Suárez if Mohamed Salah ends up departing Anfield.
The Spanish news outlet claim that Atlético Madrid are happy to let him go as they plan to ‘clean the dressing room’ this summer.
Liverpool will face competition from David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the fight to sign the 34-year-old.
Should the Reds win, then at least Suárez already has Steven Gerrard’s seal of approval.
Back in 2013, after convincing the 116-cap Uruguay international to stay at Anfield, Gerrard had some words of praise for the South American.
As quoted by the Guardian, he said: “Nobody tried harder than me to do that [convince him to stay] and he knows exactly what I think of him. I knew if we could keep him here, the better our chances would be.
“He is a special type of footballer and he gives us something different. When the club got the message to him that they were not going to sell him, he got his head down and has worked hard.”

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that Suárez was a special player for Liverpool, and still seems to be just as special despite his age.
After Barcelona let him join Atlético Madrid in a cut-price £5.5 million move over the summer, the former Ajax man has netted 19 goals in 26 La Liga outings.
He is level with Karim Benzema in that respect, and only four goals behind Lionel Messi, who’s currently the top scorer in La Liga.

Class really is permanent.
In our view, Suárez wouldn’t really be a good replacement for Salah, as the pair are vastly different footballers.
However, if Atlético Madrid allow him to leave for a reasonable fee, it’s definitely something for Jürgen Klopp to think about.
