The Rangers hitman has been in fine form for Steven Gerrard’s men this season.
Steven Gerrard spoke to reporters after his side’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Ibrox last night, and highlighted his concern that Alfredo Morelos seems to be their only real goal threat at the moment, as quoted by the Express.
The Gers have endured a miserable week, having lost to Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup semi-final on Sunday, before dropping two points at home to Steve Clarke’s men last night.
Rangers now sit in fourth spot in the Scottish Premiership table, a distant eight points adrift of league leaders Hearts, although they do have a game in hand over the Edinburgh outfit.
Gerrard spoke to reporters after last night’s draw, and insisted that his team cannot continue to rely upon Morelos as their only real goal threat as the season goes on, as quoted by the Express:
“He’s (Morelos) the only one at the moment who really looks a goal threat for us. The onus is on us to go and break teams down and for someone to step forward to create something. We can’t keep relying on Alfredo.”
The 22-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 goals in 21 outings in all competitions, but his teammates will have to start chipping in, if Rangers are to have any chance of enjoying success this season.
