Katic, who joined Rangers from Slaven Belupo in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £2 million, has struggled for playing time in recent weeks.
The Croatia international centre-back has made nine appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Rangers manager Gerrard has suggested that he could bring the 22-year-old back for the match against Livingston away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
Gerrard told The Herald about Katic: “I’m tempted to bring him (Katic) back. Niko came in at first and performed really consistently and really well. He is a player who was brought in for now and for the future.
“He had a couple of performances and certain situations happened which affected his confidence. It was my job to protect him and maybe take him out of the firing line at times.
“I did think he had a dip in his form and his confidence was affected. I do feel as though he’s over that now and he is pushing.”

Need for win
Rangers will be looking to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.
The Gers are now fourth in the league table with 42 points from 22 matches, as many as six points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have played 22 games.
