Rangers picked up another Ibrox win on Saturday, beating Dundee 4-0.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told Rangers TV that he urged his side to be sharper against Dundee – even when they were 3-0 up at half time.
The Gers returned from the international break needing a response having lost 1-0 to Celtic two weeks ago, and they did just that against Dundee.
Goals from Lassana Coulibaly and Ryan Kent had Rangers 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes, and James Tavernier added a third from the penalty spot after Alfredo Morelos had been fouled.
Kenny Miller was sent off on his return to Ibrox, and Rangers found a fourth goal, as winger Glenn Middleton scored his first senior goal for the club from close range,
Rangers are now back to just two points behind Celtic, and whilst fans were delighted with a 4-0 win, manager Gerrard wasn’t completely overjoyed with his side’s performance.
The stats were hugely impressive; 64% of possession, 19 shots, 10 on target, 15 corners and only one allowed on target, Rangers were dominant against Neil McCann’s side at Ibrox.
However, Gerrard revealed after the game that he told his players at half time to stop being so loose and slow and ramp up their performance in the second half, adding that whilst 4-0 is okay, he wanted a more emphatic scoreline.
“I just said ‘look, you’ve got two options here; we carry on being a bit loose, and we carry on being a bit slow, and just let the game fizzle out, or we can lift it, we can go through the gears and we can play with a bit more purpose and keep possession more, create more chances and we should go on get an emphatic scoreline’. 4-0 is okay, but I was wanting more,” he added.
