Rangers were quite simply brilliant during their 7-1 win yesterday.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s superb 7-1 win over Motherwell at Ibrox yesterday, and shared what he asked his players before they took to the field of play, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.
The Gers closed the gap on league leaders Celtic and Hearts to just two points, and they have a game in hand over the Edinburgh outfit.
Yesterday’s performance was a scintillating one from the Glasgow giants, and the Rangers players would have been desperate to give the home fans something to shout about.
Gerrard addressed the media in the aftermath of yesterday’s thumping victory, and shared what he and his staff asked their players before they took to the pitch against Motherwell, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times:
“I am very pleased with the players and I am very pleased with the result. It was a really good reaction from Thursday night. We asked the players to bounce back today and put on a show for the supporters, we certainly delivered that. That’s what I have been asking for from the players right from the start. We’ve used the words ‘ruthless’ and ‘relentless’ and that’s what we were today.”
The Rangers boss then shared what he told his players during the half-time break:
“I said to them at half time ‘we are 3-1 up, they are a man down, what are we going to do’? I asked if they were going to continue to get carried away in a fight and in the emotion of it all or if they were going to be calm, if they were going to play with a precision and a tempo. I told them we would get opportunities to make the scoreline as big as we wanted and the players have delivered.”
Next up for Rangers is a home game against Livingstone in two weeks time, and it would take a brave man to bet against Gerrard’s men notching up another win.
