Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the Daily Record that striker Cedric Itten will now face a couple of weeks out injured.
The Gers beat Hamilton Academical 2-0 on Saturday, with Ianis Hagi opening the scoring from close range before James Tavernier added a second.
Rangers sit top of the Scottish Premiership with five wins from six games, and have yet to even concede a single league goal this season.
Gerrard was left a little frustrated with how his side failed to build on their 2-0 lead, and maybe Itten could have made an impact.
The Swiss striker recently joined Rangers from St Gallen, and impressed when he started against Kilmarnock last weekend.
Sadly, Itten wasn’t involved at all on Saturday, and Gerrard notes that he missed out due to a calf injury picked up in training on Friday.
Gerrard added that Itten has now been pulled out of international duty with Switzerland, in order to try and recover with Rangers.

“Itten has got an injury he picked up yesterday in training,” said Gerrard. “It’s a calf problem so we will assess that but it looks like he will miss a couple of weeks and won’t be going on international duty,” he added.
The news may oddly be a boost to Celtic striker Albian Ajeti, who is in the Switzerland squad and now has an even greater chance of playing with Itten now out.
The two Swiss strikers are battling it out in the Scottish title race, and fighting for minutes with the national team; with Itten out, Ajeti now has a chance to really press home an advantage over the Rangers man.
