Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has told Metro that he wants Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to win the Golden Boot this season.

Kane is the top scorer in the Premier League at the moment with 19 goals. Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is also in the running for the accolade, having found the net 18 times so far this season.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Chelsea striker Diego Costa have scored 17 goals each, while Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has bagged 15 goals.

Former Liverpool midfielder Gerrard hopes that it is his compatriot and England international midfielder Kane who wins the Premier League Golden Boot this season.

“I hope it’s Harry Kane,” Gerrard told Metro regarding Kane topscoring in the Premier League this season.

“Reminds me of Robbie Fowler in his pomp, or Alan Shearer, where they just burst the side netting with their finishes,” added the Englishman. “He’s got a little bit of selfishness about him, which I like in a striker.”

Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 56 points from 27 matches. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 10 points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.

Chelsea look set to win the championship this season, but Spurs can certainly end up in the runners-up spot. For that to happen, Kane has to carry on banging in the goals for the North London outfit.
