Aston Villa boss, Steven Gerrard, posted on Aaron Ramsey’s Instagram ‘good luck mate’ after he signed for Rangers on transfer deadline day.

Whilst Gerrard lured Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona to Villa Park, the man who replaced him at Ibrox, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, has managed to snap up Ramsey from Juventus.

After the loan deal was signed, sealed and delivered, Ramsey posted the following message to Rangers fans on Instagram, with Gerrard wishing him the best in the comments section.

This is a signing which is a statement of intent from Rangers and one that could prove to be the difference-maker in the Scottish Premiership title race.

It just so happens to be that Rangers will make the short trip to Celtic on Wednesday night and it will be interesting to see if Ramsey makes his debut.

Well, in actual fact, if he’s fit enough then, at the very least, he will be on the bench for that Old Firm showdown.

If Ramsey can get his engine going, as he did at Arsenal, then he will add goals from the middle of the park.

In truth, there are perhaps teams in the Premier League who could do with his services, but he opted for the Scottish Premiership and not England’s top-flight.

It also needs to be remembered that at Ibrox, Ramsey can also build up his fitness for Wales and their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

It just so happens to be that they lock horns against Scotland in the play-offs, so you can just bet your bottom dollar it’s going to be Ramsey scoring the winner.
