Could Everton and Sam Allardyce part company at the end of the season?
Steven Gerrard has told BT Sport that Sam Allardyce is not the long-term manager for Everton.
The former Liverpool and England international midfielder, though, has suggested that Allardyce will keep the Toffees in the Premier League for the 2018-19 campaign.
The Liverpool legend made the comments following the Merseyside outfit’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley away from home at Turf Moor in the league last Saturday afternoon.
The defeat to the Clarets means that the Toffees are now 11th in the Premier League table with 34 points from 29 matches, seven points above the relegation zone.
Gerrard told BT Sport: “I think they had to panic and they had to make the decision to take Big Sam, and when he came in, he had an impact, and that impact will be enough to keep them in the league, but, long term, is Sam Allardyce’s the answer? I don’t think he is.”
New manager needed?
Allardyce is a very good manager who knows the Premier League inside out, but the performances and results of Everton in recent weeks have not been good.
The Goodison Park faithful like attacking and entertaining football, but under Allardyce, the team are not playing like that.
Everton should remain in the Premier League next season, and one should not be surprised if the club’s board decide to appoint a new manager in the summer of 2018.
