Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier was reportedly wanted by West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window, and Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard wants the Gers star to stay.

Tavernier is one of the best right-backs in the Scottish Premiership and is a key figure in the current Rangers team.
According to The Daily Record, Rangers turned down a bid from West Brom in the Championship in England for the 26-year-old right-back on transfer deadline day.
The Baggies reportedly made an offer to sign Tavernier on loan from Rangers on transfer deadline day with a view to making the move permanent in January for £2.5 million.
Rangers manager Gerrard has suggested that the former Newcastle United defender – who cost the Scottish Premiership club a transfer fee of £200,000 when they signed him from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015, as reported by The Daily Mail – is in line for a new deal.
Gerrard told The Scottish Sun about Tavernier: “We want to offer James a new deal, to stay here and be part of it, help us be successful in the future.”

Good decision
Tavernier is a very good right-back who has done well during his time at Rangers, and it would make sense for the Gers to hand him a new contract.
Rangers recently extended the contract of star striker Alfredo Morelos, who, like Tavernier, is a key figure in Gerrard’s team.
Rangers are aiming to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season, and have also progressed to the group stage of the Europa League.
