Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official Twitter page that Leon Balogun will not play for the Ibrox outfit this weekend.
The Gers will take on Livingston away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
The 32-year-old defender was in action for Rangers in their Scottish Premiership game against St Johnstone at Ibrox on Wednesday evening.
The Nigeria international was substituted at the end of the first half, and Rangers boss Gerrard has said that the injury will keep him out this weekend.
Good start to Rangers career
Balogun joined Rangers on a free transfer this summer and has already established himself as an important player in Gerrard’s team.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion defender has also played in all three of Rangers’ league games so far this season, according to WhoScored.
It will be a blow for the player that he will miss the game this weekend, but it is only the start of the season, and right now, there is no rush or urgency for him to play all the time.
Rangers are aiming to stop bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row in 2020-21.
