Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has again talked up new signing Ovie Ejaria and talked about what the loanee will bring to his squad.

Talking to The Mail, Gerrard promises that Ejaria will light up the Ibrox crowd and get them excited when he is in possession.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ejaria signed for Rangers on loan from Liverpool and Gerrard thanked his former club for helping to push through the deal.

Gerrard said: “‘He’s an exciting player, very skilful. He’ll have the crowd on the edge of their seats and fits the profile that we were looking for in the midfield area.

“He’s six foot two, he’s rangy, leggy. He can win balls back and also drive at defences and make things happen.

“He gives us that nice blend in midfield and something different to what’s been here before.

“I’m delighted to have him in for the year on loan. Liverpool were very helpful there.”

Ejaria got a taster of competitive football with Sunderland on loan in the second half of the season but found it tough playing for a side doomed to relegation.

Gerrard plans an attacking role for Ejaria and his chance at Ibrox appears to be a great opportunity for him.

The manager has to balance talking up Ejaria with not putting too much pressure on the 20-year-old, but Gerrard appears genuinely delighted to have him on board.
