Glasgow Rangers loanee Jermain Defoe has struggled to force his way into the starting lineup at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that Jermain Defoe is probably frustrated with him due to the lack of game-time he has had since arriving at Ibrox in January.
Defoe appeared to be an inspired signing for the Gers during the winter window. Alfredo Morelos has been sensational this term, but Rangers have not managed to ask enough questions when the Colombian has been unavailable or had an off-day.
However, the 36-year-old has struggled to force his way into the starting lineup at Ibrox. Six goals have come in 14 appearances, but last night’s win against Hearts was only the seventh game that the striker has started.
And Gerrard admitted with a wry smile that his former teammate may not have been overly happy with the role that he has played since arriving at Rangers on loan.

“Knowing him better than most, he’s probably been a bit frustrated with me in terms of game-time and minutes,” he told Rangers’ official YouTube channel.
“I know him very well. But I spoke to Jermain, he’s come in and done really well and I’ve got every confidence that he’ll continue to build on last night’s performance and he’ll start again at Motherwell and we’ll go from there.”

It may have felt as though Defoe has not had the best time since arriving at Rangers, but only 16 players have scored more league goals than him this season.
That is staggering given that the former England international has started just five league games since moving to Rangers. And that tally should certainly whet the appetite ahead of his full season with the Gers next year.
