Speaking on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, Steven Gerrard has been chatting about Luis Suarez amid rumours linking the Uruguayan with a move to Aston Villa.
The Atletico Madrid striker is reportedly a player Villa are keen on, with Gerrard supposedly even calling his former teammate to speak about a move.
Gerrard, of course, played with Suarez at Liverpool, and he’s named the former Barcelona man as his greatest ever Reds teammate, picking him narrowly ahead of Fernando Torres.
What’s Gerrard said about Suarez?
The Villa boss was asked to name the best player he’s ever played with.
“From a Liverpool point of view It’d probably be between Torres and Suarez. But, if I was forced and pushed because Luis did it for a longer period of time and Luis left for a foreign club rather than Chelsea, I’d go for Luis Suarez,” Gerrard said.

Better than Torres
As much as Fernando Torres is a legend, we have to agree with Gerrard about Suarez being better.
The Uruguayan has done things Torres could never do. He won a Golden Boot in the Premier League and he even levelled the record for goals in a 38-game Premier League season – a record that has since been broken by Mohamed Salah.
As Gerrard says, Suarez did it over a longer period of time as well. While Torres lost his form when he joined Chelsea, Suarez went on to become one of Barcelona’s greatest ever goalscorers after leaving Liverpool.
Suarez is clearly one of Gerrard’s favourite players, so it’s not all that surprising to hear he wants him at Villa Park.
