Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has raved about Brandon Barker to HeraldScotland.

Gerrard believes that Barker is starting to show what he is capable of, and has outlined his quality.

The Rangers boss has added that there is more to come from the 23-year-old former Manchester City prospect.

Gerrard told HeraldScotland about Barker: “He is playing with a smile and there are signs we are starting to see the real Brandon Barker.

“I think there are still signs that there is more to come but he is working hard, playing with a smile and he is really enjoying playing with Ryan and the other players around him.

“He also has a licence to go and express himself. We have given him the platform because we know there is a big, big talent there and it is up to Brandon to go and find his best and most consistent level. He has to do whatever he can to stay in the team.”

Rangers spell

Barker joined Rangers in the summer of 2019 after leaving Premier League giants City.

The 23-year-old did not have a great debut season for Rangers in 2018-19 and had injury problems as well.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the former England Under-20 international winger scored one goal in six Scottish Premiership matches last season, and he also played four times in the Europa League.

So far this season, the winger has played in four Scottish Premiership matches for the Gers, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Big player for Rangers

Barker is playing well for Rangers at the moment, and it seems that the 23-year-old will be a big player for the Gers this season.

The Ibrox club are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season and stop bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from making it 10 league triumphs in a row.
