Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told Rangers TV that there will be an announcement on friendly matches for the Ibrox club soon.

Gerrard’s side are back in training, as Rangers prepare for the 2020-21 campaign.

As reported by The Daily Record, Rangers are in no-contact training this week, with the Scottish government having given the green light for professional sport to be played behind closed doors.

Rangers manager Gerrard has said that there will be announcements regarding pre-season friendly games soon.

Gerrard told Rangers TV, as translated by The Daily Record: “In terms of the fans, we want to give them some news on friendlies that are on the horizon – we know they want to watch the team and they have missed it just like we have ourselves.

“So hopefully, in the coming days and weeks, we are going to announce some friendly matches – we have some exciting things brewing in the background.”

Exciting for Rangers fans

Rangers fans will be desperate to watch the team in action, as it has been quite a while since the Gers last played a match.

Of course, a pre-season friendly match is not the same as a competitive game against Celtic or Aberdeen, but it would be a start.

The 2020-21 campaign will be massive for Rangers, as the Gers aim to stop Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row, and the Gers fans will play a massive role in the team’s success.
