Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard says that he wants AS Roma striker Umar Sadiq at Ibrox.

The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month that Rangers want to secure the services of Sadiq on a season-long loan deal from Italian outfit Roma.
Liverpool legend Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager earlier this summer, has stated that he wants the 21-year-old striker, who cost Roma £2m million in transfer fees when they signed him from Spezia in 2016, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The former England international midfielder has also suggested that discussions regarding the signing of the Nigeria Under-23 international striker are going on.

Gerrard told The Scottish Sun: “We’re fans of Umar Sadiq, we do like the player. Sadiq would bring us a forward option — height, power and presence. He’s a player who works too hard, believe it or not.
“He does tons and tons of running. He’s very enthusiastic. We’ve got an interest, but at the moment Sadiq is still a Roma player. It’s ongoing. We’ll have to see how that one materialises, but he’s someone we like.”

Busy summer
Rangers seem keen on Sadiq, who is a very talented and promising young striker and spent the second half of last season on loan at NAC Breda.
The Gers have been quite busy in the summer transfer window and have been made quite a few signings.
Among the players Rangers have recruited so far this summer are Scott Arfield, Connor Goldson and Jon Flanagan.
