Steven Gerrard reveals why Rangers duo Robby McCrorie & Andy Dallas have been allowed to leave this month

Rangers duo Robby McCrorie and Andy Dallas have joined Greenock Morton on loan until the end of the season.

Steven Gerrard has revealed that Rangers duo Robby McCrorie and Andy Dallas have departed the club this month to earn valuable ‘experience’ and aid their ‘development’.

The Gers boss admitted that it was ‘very difficult’ to keep goalkeeper McCrorie because he was ‘desperate’ to play football matches and he had to be ‘respectful’ of his decision.

The Glasgow club confirmed on their official website on Friday that the two youngsters have joined Greenock Morton on loan until the end of the season.

Prior to Rangers’ away clash at Livingston on Sunday, Gerrard spoke honestly as to why McCrorie and forward Dallas have departed the club this month.

“Well, we have just allowed Andy Dallas and Robby McCrorie to join Morton on loan for experience and their development which I think is very important,” Gerrard told Rangers TV as posted on their official YouTube channel.

“It is very difficult to keep Robby here if he’s desperate to play football matches, so we had to be fair and respectful to him.”

It is understandable that Gerrard has allowed them to leave the club this month because they are yet to make their debut’s for the senior team.

Added with that, they will be joining a team that is currently two points outside of the top four in the second tier of Scottish football.

Both McCrorie and Dallas will be hoping to be thrown straight into the action on Saturday, with Morton hosting seventh-placed Dunfermline before their trip to Dundee United a week later.

As for Gerrard, he will turn his attention to the Scottish Premiership and try to push his team up the table following their damaging defeat to Kilmarnock on Wednesday night [BBC Sport].

The dropped points away from home resulted in Rangers falling into third place in the table, two points behind Steve Clarke’s side and three points behind leaders Celtic – Brendan Rodgers men have a game in hand on their rivals.
