The Rangers manager is determined to keep hold of the prolific striker.

Steven Gerrard, Manager of Rangers looks on prior to the UEFA Europa League Group G match between Rangers and Villarreal CF at Ibrox Stadium on November 29, 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s hugely important clash with Aberdeen at Ibrox tomorrow night, and responded when asked what his stance will be, should he receive an offer for Alfredo Morelos in January, as quoted by Sky Sports.

The Gers have made a mightily impressive start to their 2018/19 campaign, and they currently sit one point clear of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, although their rivals do have a game in hand.

Morelos has payed a key role for Rangers this season, scoring 17 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions thus far, and when the 22-year-old is on form, Steven Gerrard’s side are a real force.

Gerrard spoke to reporters today, and responded emphatically when asked whether he might be tempted to sell the Colombian in January, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“For any club looking over our fences, if you want our top players, you have to come with top, top money. That’s the only message I’ll ever say on any of my top players. Top money, that’s it. He [Morelos] has to be [equipped to deal with speculation] and so do all the other players. They have to be ready.”

If Rangers are to push Celtic all the way this season, it will be vital for them to keep hold of Morelos.

Selling the Colombian, irrespective of how much money they receive for him, would send out totally the wrong message, whereas keeping hold of him would be a real statement of intent from Rangers.

Morelos can become a Rangers legend if he remains at Ibrox, and the club’s hierarchy just need to prove that they can match his ambition by making some waves in the transfer market this summer.
