Celtic skipper Scott Brown put the boot in further with an Instagram post mocking Alfredo Morelos of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers on Monday.
Steven Gerrard has told a press conference on Rangers’ YouTube channel that he has no problem with an Instagram post by Celtic’s Scott Brown on Monday.
Brown celebrated Celtic’s 2-1 win over Rangers on Sunday by posting a photo of himself smiling as Alfredo Morelos left the field following his red card at Parkhead.
The 33-year-old Hoops skipper included a series of fishing rod emojis in the caption.
He was at the centre of a number of controversial incidents, including celebrating in front of the Gers’ support at Parkhead following the fiery game.
Brown has certainly enhanced his reputation as a villainous figure among Rangers fans in recent days, but light Blues boss Gerrard admits that the social media jibe did not anger him.
He told a press conference: “Celtic are entitled to celebrate – the supporters, the club, the individual players. That’s fine.
“We haven’t got a problem with that at all. We’re on the other end of it this time.
“There’s one more Old Firm left that we’re looking forward to and we need to make sure the result of that game is different to the one we’ve just been involved in. I’ve got no problem with Celtic celebrating.”
It’s a surprising reaction from the 37-year-old manager. He condemned Brown for his on-the-field behaviour and few would’ve batted an eyelid had Gerrard slammed his social media postings, but it’s interesting – and refreshing – to see that the Gers boss has no problem with it.
