Steven Gerrard has congratulated former club Liverpool on winning the Premier League title.
The Reds were confirmed as champions on Thursday night when Cheslea defeated Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
In doing so, the Blues ensured that Liverpool – who have a 23-point lead with seven games left – cannot be caught mathematically.
There’s been 30 years of hurt at Anfield in regards to failing to win a top-flight English league crown.
Despite being arguably the club’s best-ever player, Gerrard was unable to end that hoodoo – though not for the want of trying – but here’s how the legendary midfielder reacted on Instagram as Jurgen Klopp’s side went all the way.
Being the type of manager that he is, Klopp will celebrate just as much as the Liverpool players – and going by social media, the German was cutting a few rugs on the dancefloor last night.
But in the near future, Klopp will be looking ahead to next season and analyse how best to mastermind a Premier League title defence.
Bolstering the squad with Timo Werner would’ve been a good place to start, though the former Leipzig star has gone to Chelsea.
Fortunately, there’s plenty more fish in the sea for the Reds boss and Director of Football Michael Edwards and it’ll be fascinating to see how they go about the recruitment this summer.
