The Rangers star put in a match-winning display for Steven Gerrard’s side last night.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 1-0 away win at NK Osijek in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier, and offered high words of praise for under-fire striker Alfredo Morelos, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.
The Colombian hitman was singled out for criticism after two poor showings for Rangers in their opening Europa League qualifier with Macedonians Shkupi.
The 22-year-old answered his critics in fine fashion last night, however, scoring the Gers’ only goal, and working tirelessly for his team.
Morelos will surely have a huge part to play for Steven Gerrard’s side this season, and his goal last night will do him the world of good ahead of what will be a long and arduous campaign.
Gerrard spoke to reporters after his side’s 1-0 win last night, and raved about Morelos’ display in Croatia, as quoted by the Scottish Herald:

“It was a selfless performance, I thought he ran himself into the ground for the sake of the team. My experience going away in Europe is that sometimes you have to do the dirty stuff. It’s about showing a different side of you on nights like this. He will have games where he has numerous chances, he’ll take them and he’ll look a superstar. But he’ll get the headlines in a different way tonight and I am really proud of his application and his effort. He’s going in the right direction.”
Rangers will welcome NK Osijek to Ibrox for the second leg of their Europa League qualifying tie on Thursday, just three days before they head to Aberdeen for their Scottish Premiership season opener, and Gerrard will be hoping that Morelos continues to show the application and quality that he displayed last night.
