Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told Rangers TV that he felt Kemar Roofe played ‘angry’ in the 8-0 win over Hamilton Academical on Sunday.
The Gers were looking to hit back having thrown away a 3-1 lead at Benfica on Thursday night, and seemingly took their frustration out on the Accies.
Joe Aribo, Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier all hit braces, whilst Scott Arfield and Brandon Barker also got themselves on the scoresheet.
Rangers were ruthless and clinical in front of goal, and Gerrard will have been delighted with his side’s dominant performance.
The display from Roofe was a particular highlight, as he chipped in with a couple of goals whilst playing on the right of Gerrard’s front three.
The 27-year-old has shown glimpses of his quality at Rangers, but a calf injury stunted his impact before his stunning goal against Standard Liege.
Now, Gerrard has admitted that he thought Roofe ‘played angry’ because he didn’t play against Kilmarnock or Benfica over the last week.

Gerrard feels that Roofe is now getting close to his best, giving Rangers yet another dangerous attacker as they chase the title.
“We’ve got people getting back up to speed,” said Gerrard. “Kemar Roofe played angry probably because he never got on the pitch through the week, which I love to see.”
“Roofe is getting close to being at his best, Joe Aribo is getting close to being at his best. I’ve got some selection dilemmas in the future but that’s what I want,” he added.
