Glasgow Rangers were linked with a potential move to bring Lucas Leiva to Ibrox this summer.

However, with six signings already through the Ibrox door, Gerrard has seemingly played down the chances of Lucas becoming one of those who follows the likes of Scott Arfield and Connor Goldson into the building.
It would have undoubtedly been an incredible deal for Rangers had they managed to bring Lucas in. Though he is edging towards the twilight of his career, he is still playing regularly at the highest level and did end the campaign by being named Lazio’s player of the year.

But, while Lucas may not be Ibrox bound this summer, it does appear that there is a lot for Rangers fans to be optimistic about given the business already done and the time left to get more signings in.
The spine of the side has certainly been strengthened, and Gerrard will now be hoping that he can add further depth to the Light Blues’ attacking options. And then he will set about the task of trying to get the side to play at a level which leads the fans to almost forget that they were linked with Lucas during this window.
